The 2024 Bladder & Bowel UK Product Innovation Award is awarded to:

Forte Medical Limited

The award was judged by a panel that included clinicians who specialise in bladder and/or bowel care, representatives from research and academia, and members of the public living with bladder and/or bowel issues. 

The judges were impressed by Forte Medical’s Peezy Midstream. The product is cited by NIHR as “the only urine collection method which meets Public Health England UK Standards for Microbiology Collection of Urine”.

The 2024 Bladder & Bowel UK Clinical Excellence Award is awarded to the

Continence Team at University Hospitals of Leicester.

The award was judged by experts and clinicians specialising in bladder and/or bowel care.

The judges were impressed with the team’s improvement project to introduce the Purewick, a female external catheter, as an alternative for female patients to prevent unnecessary urinary catheter insertion and incorrect pad usage and to reduce overall MASD and prevent harm such as Catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) and hospital acquired pressure ulcers (HAPUs) to patients.

The Bladder & Bowel UK Product Innovation Award recognises design-led solutions to the real needs of people with bladder and/or bowel issues. The award celebrates a product whose design takes into account proven patient needs, and which meets this need using patient-centred design, ultimately improving patient quality of life. 

It is judged by a panel including clinicians who specialise in bladder and/or bowel care, representatives from research and academia, and members of the public living with bladder and/or bowel issues. 

The Bladder & Bowel UK Clinical Excellence Award is a celebration of outstanding bladder and/or bowel health care.

The award rewards the exceptional contribution of an individual, team or project working in the field of bladder and/or bowel health within the NHS or independent sector, by celebrating the demonstrable positive impact they have made to their patients or clients or to the public.  

Entrants may have used leadership, collaboration, innovation and/or novel approaches to engagement to improve access to care, health outcomes or quality of life for the public generally or to service users and their families. 

The Bladder & Bowel UK Clinical Excellence Award is a platform for honouring success and sharing outstanding practice. The award will be judged by experts and clinicians who specialise in bladder and/or bowel care.
